Rui Barbosa (1849-1923) was a Brazilian politician, writer and diplomat. During the Peace Conference of 1907, he was deputy from Brazil and for his strong performance during the conference he was nicknamed ‘The Eagle of The Hague’. During the conference he made a case for the foundation of an International Court of Justice.
