Peace Palace

Pax is the Roman goddess of Peace. She was the personification of peace, which was one of the virtues of the Roman Empire. Worshiping peace became popular during the rule of emperor Augustus. He created peace and security in the Roman Empire. The result was the Pax Romana, a period of 200 years of peace in the Empire. He would use imagery of Pax to help stabilize the empire after the many years of turmoil and civil war. Pax is also equated to Greek goddess Irene.
