Documentary Bol Room

Ferdinand Bol (1616 – 1680) and Gerard de Lairesse (1640 – 1711) are two of the most important painters of the 17th Century in the Netherlands. In the Bol Room of The Hague’s Peace Palace, there are unique painting ensembles by these two artists that are in exceptionally good condition. Art historian Margriet van Eikema Hommes has done extensive research to discover these ensembles. The surprising results of the research on the 17th-century paintings and interesting details about the artworks in the Bolzaal are explained by art historian Margriet van Eikema Hommes and conservator Jacobine Wieringa in this documentary.
