Peace Palace

Korea

Korea donated a granite statue of an animal, the Haechi, in 2014. Haechi is a mythical Korean beast known for its divine ability to distinguish between good and evil. In terms of appearance, a “Haechi” usually has the combined form of a lion, sheep, dog and unicorn, with scales and feathers on its body and often a short horn on its head. The floral pattern inlaid on the pedestal beneath the Haechi signifies peace and harmony.
