Romania donated three Kilim carpets intended to decorate the marble floor in the party rooms on the ground floor of the Peace Palace. Kilim carpets are characterised by the use of geometric patterns and are rather flat carpets without pile. The carpets have their origins in the Middle East, but many Kilims were also manufactured in the Balkans.
