In the garden, as a counterpart to the statue of the “Thinker” Erasmus is a bronze statue of a man who, during his heavy work, rests for a moment leaning on a pickaxe used to work the ground. The expressive statue was made by Dutch sculptor Toon Dupuis. Dupuis also created a sculpture on the facade and a relief in the Great Hall of Justice of the Peace Palace.
